NETS activity has been steadily increasing over the years. In 2015, we performed over 1100 transports, which is more than a doubling in our activity in the last decade. 
The majority of babies are referred from metropolitan hospitals, and we undertake such transports using our dedicated road ambulance. We generally undertake transports <200km by road (ie- as far South as Peel and as far East as Northam) but will sometimes go by road to Bunbury (180km) if RFDS flights are delayed.
About 18% of retrievals are from country WA. While most country retrievals are from the Southwest, NETS retrieves babies as far afield as Broome (some 2500km from Perth.)
